I hope that you’ve all enjoyed the festivities but now that the mince pies have gone and the last chocolates have been eaten many of you will be looking to lose those extra pounds you’ve put on so here are a few suggestions to help you:

  1. No food is bad food – it’s about getting the balance right, it’s the amount of food and the frequency you eat them that count. If you deprive yourself of your favourite foods you could get a craving to eat more.
  2. Eat regularly – Try to eat something every 3 – 5 hours to keep energy levels up. Start the day breakfast, take something you can eat at work if you don’t have much time in a morning. Eat often but don’t eat more, spread your eating throughout the day.
  3. Don’t keep weighing yourself, your clothes will tell you if you’ve lost weight. If you must weight yourself then do it weekly, on the same day, at the same time and wearing the same things.  If you have a bad day but don’t think “that’s blown it for this week” and eat high calories foods for the rest of the week – you’ve fallen off the horse, get straight back on.
  4. Make sure you eat a wide variety of foods so that you get all the nutrients you need.  When you’re cutting down you need to choose nutrient dense foods as often as possible.REMEMBER – YOU CAN DO IT!
